The CUT-120A is a plasma cutter for cutting electrically conductive metal: mild steel, stainless and aluminium. A plasma arc cuts by melting a narrow kerf and blowing the molten metal clear with compressed air, which is far quicker than a grinder or oxy-fuel on sheet and plate and leaves a much narrower heat-affected zone.
It suits profiling plate, trimming sections to length, cutting damaged panel out for repair, and opening holes and slots that would be slow to drill. One point worth knowing before you buy: plasma needs a clean, dry air supply. Moisture carried through from the compressor is the most common cause of poor cut quality and short consumable life, so a water trap is not optional.
