Automatic Pump Control

The EM-6 is an automatic pump controller. Fitted to the outlet of a surface or booster pump, it starts the pump when a tap opens and it senses the pressure drop, then stops it once flow ceases. It does the job that a pressure switch and expansion vessel used to do between them, in one compact unit and without the tank.

Its second function matters just as much. If the pump runs without water, the controller cuts power. Dry running destroys a mechanical seal within minutes and is far and away the most common reason domestic pumps fail early, so the protection often pays for the controller several times over.
